We will be providing you with the following items of kit for the event

   Gortex Waterproof Jacket & Trousers
   Waterproof Rucksack
   Sleeping bag and silk liner
   Gortex bivvy
   Survival bag
   Hoochie (Waterproof shelter)
   Combat Trousers
   Gaiters
   Cape/ poncho
   Torch and spare batteries
   Water bottle Knife, fork, spoon, mug and plate
   Compass, map and whistle

We will provide all the above kit. If you would rather use your own kit to replace any of these items please bring it along to the event and we will make sure that what you have is suitable. We suggest that you bring the least amount with you (apart from warm clothing and travelling clothing) as space in the rucksack whilst on the island will be limited .

   

These are the items you are recommended to bring

   Boots with ankle support and tread (see section on Walking Boots)
   Trousers and tops that are light, quick drying (No denim)
   Fleece is ideal, tracksuit bottoms or similar loose quick drying are good
   [see section on layering clothes]
   Hat and gloves (Sun / rain)
   Socks
   Underwear
   Wash kit, small towel.
   Small first aid kit
   Swimming Costume
   Personal med
   Spare old pair of trainers
   A belt (to get those army trousers to fit!)

Please do not go spending lots of money on kit. If in doubt your coaches will be able to advise you on what, where and how much you can get something for.

Cheap outlets providing most things you will need are www.decathlon.com and www.millets.co.uk and www.mountainwarehouse.com do discount kit.

You may also find Army Surplus stores are useful, as well as the Skiing/Sporting section of TK MAX (look closely at the labels and chose Merino Wool if possible)
